Trente ans de chansons, de musique et de pluie
Depuis sa création en 1995, Rainy Days explore les musiques celtiques dans toute leur diversité. L’émission est née sans rubriques définies, mêlant airs traditionnels irlandais et bretons, contes, musique cajun, bandes originales de films… et une bonne dose d’humour. Dès 1999, elle s’oriente vers le rock celtique et la chanson française, amorçant une structuration progressive en séquences thématiques.
Au fil des années, Rainy Days a couvert les grands festivals d’été — Vieilles Charrues, Lorient, les Tertres — tout en affinant son format. Aujourd’hui, elle propose 120 minutes hebdomadaires, réparties entre rubriques bretonnes et irlandaises, complétées par un agenda culturel actualisé. L’émission accorde également une place importante aux musiques des autres territoires celtiques : Écosse, Pays de Galles, Cornouailles, Galice…
Avec l’arrivée du haut débit dans les années 2000, Rainy Days s’est ouverte à un public international, grâce à la diffusion en direct et à la réécoute en ligne. L’émission a su évoluer en intégrant de nouveaux outils de communication tout en restant fidèle à son esprit d’origine.
Aujourd’hui, Rainy Days, c’est une équipe passionnée, des contenus originaux, et une présence active sur les grands événements du monde celtique. Nous recevons régulièrement des artistes pour des interviews et des sessions live, et nous assurons une couverture des festivals majeurs tels que le Festival Interceltique de Lorient, le Festival du Chant de Marin de Paimpol ou encore Kan ar Bobl.
Thirty years of songs, music and rain
Since its creation in 1995, Rainy Days has been dedicated to showcasing Celtic music in all its diversity. The show began without a fixed format, offering a spontaneous mix of Irish and Breton traditional tunes, storytelling, Cajun rhythms, film soundtracks — and plenty of humor. By 1999, it had evolved to include Celtic rock and French chanson, and began to develop more structured segments.
Over the years, Rainy Days has reported from major summer festivals such as Les Vieilles Charrues, the Interceltic Festival of Lorient, and Les Tertres, while refining its editorial direction. Today, each weekly episode runs for 120 minutes, with segments focusing on Breton and Irish music, complemented by a regularly updated cultural calendar. The show also features music from across the Celtic world — including Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and Galicia.
The spread of high-speed internet in the 2000s gave the show a new dimension, allowing listeners from around the world to tune in live or on demand. Over time, Rainy Days has embraced digital tools and communication platforms while remaining true to its original spirit.
Rainy Days is a passionate team, original content, and strong field presence across the Celtic music scene. We regularly welcome artists for interviews and live sessions, and cover major festivals such as the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, the Festival de Chants de Marin in Paimpol, and Kan ar Bobl.
